Business Development Consultant

Reporting to: Head of Business

Location: Lakeside

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for generating quality appointments through outbound calling to prospective clients
  • Working towards daily and weekly targets to contribute towards growth
  • Making high volume business to business calls
  • Qualifying appointments and booking meetings for the business development manager
  • identify key markets and build relationships with prospective clients
  • Sourcing leads from various methods
  • Explaining and promoting the product to prospective clients
  • Assisting the business development manager with the sales process to achieve their sales targets
  • Maintain and updating the sales database
  • Ensure compliance with all company reporting, administration and sales processes and procedures
  • Maintain forward visibility of pipeline activity to ensure achievement of monthly and annual financial objectives.

Key Attributes, Experience & Skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven track record in B2B telesales , having previously and consistently achieved agreed sales targets in an SME environment
  • Will be motivated in joining the SME at commencement of its accelerated growth strategy and over its 5 year sales and marketing plan
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding sales performance as an individual, ideally in a related field or business sector.
  • Excellent objection handling, influencing skills and rapport building.
  • Ability in recognising business opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Familiarity and skill with the key marketing tools including written communication, website development, market research, digital marketing and visual communication software products
  • Expert in internet and social media networking strategies, with a demonstrable track record
  • Good IT skills particularly in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and CRM systems
  • Excellent time management skills

Business Development Manager

Reporting to: Managing Director

Location: Lakeside, Cheadle, SK8 3GW

Purpose: To deliver new client acquisition targets through self-generated leads and some appointments set by a telemarketing team in our chosen market sectors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all new client acquisitions within the agreed geographic and vertical markets
  • Develop own sales channels and accounts within the identified key markets and build strong long term relationships with new clients
  • Develop strategic partnerships to aid the acquisition effort
  • Liaise with other non-sales and marketing colleagues to ensure new client experience is professional, efficient, and enjoyable and that new client retention rates are maximised
  • Ensure that best practice is identified, communicated, and deployed
  • Ensure that you are aware of all relevant competitor intelligence and use this information appropriately to improve our value proposition
  • Execute the strategy identified and contribute to any changes
  • Ensure that all corporate proposals are priced on a value proposition based methodology utilising cost to service and profitability analysis
  • Ensure compliance with all company reporting, administration and sales processes and procedures
  • Ensure sales are made within agreed authority limits
  • Escalate to Senior Business Manager any pricing or proposition query outside normal scope
  • Continually  assist in  developing and improving the sales collateral and messaging used, ensuring consistency
  • Assist the SBM in the development of new value propositions and services
  • Ensure the use of all company proposal, contract and presentation material as directed when liaising with clients and present in a timely manner. To provide ongoing input into the continual improvement of such material
  • Submit commission claims to SBM for approval
  • Maintain forward visibility of pipeline activity to ensure achievement of monthly and annual financial objectives. Drive continual improvement in the quality of pipelines and the reporting of same. Take immediate and positive action to resolve any delays in pipeline
  • To carry personal self-generated new business targets for and ensure those targets are met consistently
  • Devise and continue to provide a weekly sales report, with commentary
  • Maintain a suite of sales KPI metrics
  • Be responsible for collation and publication of all positive client commendations
  • Produce MI data as required

Key Attributes, Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of devising and delivering solution based sales to SME organisations
  • Excellent presentation skills, comfortable presenting at Board level
  • Good IT skills particularly in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems
  • High level of numeracy, grammatical skills, and commercial awareness, with experience of devising bespoke proposals underpinned by a good understanding of delivery costs and margins
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • Experience of identifying market trends, building sector and competitor intelligence and using same to refine the sales proposition
  • Familiarity and skill with the key marketing tools including written communication, website development, market research, digital marketing, visual communication software products and Microsoft software suite of products
  • Expert in internet and social media networking strategies, with a demonstrable track record
  • Ability to work unsupervised and with minimal guidance
